President Tebboune receives phone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has received on Monday a phone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said a communiqué from the Presidency.
“President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune received a phone call on Monday, January 6, from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which lasted almost half an hour,” said the source.
“Merkel extended her warm congratulations to the President of the Republic on winning the 12 December presidential election,” added the communiqué.
Following the death of Army chief, Lt General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, the “German Chancellor also offered condolences to the President, the Algerian people as well as the family of the deceased.”
Tebboune and Merkel later have “reviewed the bilateral relations, agreeing to give them a fresh impetus in various fields, the economic field chiefly,” said the source.
Regarding the international questions, “the President and the German Chancellor have exchanged views about the situation in Libya and the prospects for establishing peace in the country.”
President Tebboune and German Chancellor Angela Merkel “have convergent views with regard to the need for finding a political solution to the Libyan crisis, halting the armed conflict and ending the military foreign interference.”
“Merkel has officially invited Algeria to participate in the International Conference on Libya in Berlin,” announced the communiqué of the presidency of the Republic.
German Chancellor also invited President of the Republic Tebboune to pay an official visit to Germany, added the same source.
The date of this visit will be fixed later by mutual agreement.
