ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has awarded Saturday evening, at the People’s Palace (Algiers), the Medal of National Merit to Italian President Sergio Mattarella who is on a two-day
State visit to Algeria, at the head of a large delegation.
The two presidents exchanged medals in a dinner offered by President Tebboune in the honor of his Italian counterpart.
President Tebboune awarded his Italian counterpart the Medal of National Order of Merit.
For his part, the Italian President awarded President Tebboune the Medal of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
In his speech, the President of the Republic said that the visit paid by his Italian counterpart to Algeria is “the opportunity to recall our common history which marked the relations between the two countries, reflecting our determination to work together to raise them towards broader horizons.”
Algeria and Italy evoke, in the memory of the human civilization, a legacy rooted in the history, achievements and firm positions which marked the history of the Mediterranean for centuries to date, added the head of State.
While underlining the importance of the Algerian-Italian multi-dimensional relations, President Tebboune addressed Italian President “Your visit marks the start of a new era marked by a common ambition to promote our bilateral relations and give fresh impetus to dialogue and strategic cooperation,” thanks to “the gains achieved by the Algerian-Italian partnership, notably as part of the friendship, cooperation and good-neighborliness agreement between the countries for 18 years.”
The talks between the two heads of States enabled “raising our ambitions for the extension of the areas of cooperation and prospects for economic relations based on the win-win principle,” said President Tebboune, highlighting the agreements signed during this visit which affirm “our common will to give concrete expression to these objectives and our commitment to strengthening the friendship relations and opening up dialogue channels between the two friendly peoples.”
On this occasion, President Tebboune offered his counterpart an Arabian thoroughbred horse.
