Messahel hands over message from President Bouteflika to Mauritanian counterpart

NOUAKCHOTT- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel handed over Thursday in Nouakchott “a message of friendship and fraternity” from President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz,
said a communiqué of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE).
As part of his tour in a number of Sahel countries, Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel arrived on Thursday in Nouakchott.
During an audience with “Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, the Minister handed over to him a message of message of friendship and fraternity from President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika,” added the source.
In this regard, the Mauritanian president hailed the “quality” of the bilateral relations, expressing “willingness to enhance them further.”
He also mentioned the “particularly” important bilateral mechanisms which use is likely to boost and diversify the cooperation between the two countries, added the communiqué.
Messahel, as for him, welcomed the state of the application of the decisions resulting from the 18th session of the High Joint Commission, held in Algiers in December 2016, added the source.
The forthcoming opening of the border post will certainly “contribute to the strengthening of the economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.”
The President of the Republic’s message also revolved around the situation in the region, notably the “challenges that face the neighbouring countries, due to terrorism, organized crime and illegal migration,” said the ministry communiqué.
In this regard, Messahel reiterated Algeria’s “commitment” to pursue the coordination between the two countries in order to counter those threats.
The Mauritanian president requested from Messahel to convey to “his brother, the President of the Republic, his feelings of esteem and wishes of progress and prosperity to the Algerian people.”
