BEIJING- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel held Wednesday, in Beijing, discussions with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi as part of his official visit to China.
This visit, which takes place in a context marked by the celebration of the two countries of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations, allowed the two ministers to assess the state of the bilateral cooperation and prospects of its development.
On this occasion, Messahel congratulated his Chinese counterpart for the success of the 8th ministerial conference of the Chinese-Arab Cooperation Forum, held in the Chinese capital on July 10th.
Underlining the Algerian-Chinese comprehensive strategies partnership, decided by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Chinese counterpart XI Jinping in 2014, the two ministers welcomed the quality of ties between Algeria and China and the level reached in the implementation of joint projects and the five-year plan 2014-2018.
In this regard, they agreed to assess the achievements that have been made as part of this plan and also to envisage a new five-year 2019-2023. The two ministers also agreed to continue consultations between the two countries for the implementation of ongoing projects.
The talks also allowed the two ministers to exchange analyses and viewpoints of the two countries on regional and international issues of common interest, notably the situation of crises and conflicts, the fight against terrorism and organized crime as well as the reform of the Security Council and international governance institutions.
