Messahel conveys message of President Bouteflika to his Malian counterpart

BAMAKO- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel was received Saturday by Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubakar Keita, to whom he conveyed the expressions of fraternity and esteem of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika,
as well as his message on willingness to strengthen the bilateral relations and consultations on regional issues.
President Keita reiterated his gratitude to President Bouteflika for his personal commitment and his efforts to accompany the Malians on the path of dialogue to restore peace and stability in the country.
He then welcomed the quality of the bilateral ties and qualitative leap which marked them since his visit to Algiers in March 2015, while pointing out the interest he gives to the strengthening of the cooperation between the two countries. He also welcomed the Algerian participation in the next edition of Bamako’s International Fair, as a guest of honour.
President Keita broached the situation in his country and the region, as well as the implementation of the Agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali. He put a particular emphasis on the challenges facing the region, stressing the need for consultations between the two countries to face them.
For his part, Messahel, who is on a tour to the capitals of some countries of the Sahel region, renewed Algeria’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Mali to accompany the Malian brothers in their search for stability and to get out of crisis in the country. He also congratulated the level reached in the implementation of the decisions taken in the last session of the Algerian-Malian high joint commission, held in November 2016 in Bamako.
The message of President of the Republic also focused on the situation in the region. In this regard, Messahel broached the different threats in the zone of the Sahel notably terrorism, organized crime and illegal immigration, on which regular consultations between the two countries are necessary.
