ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have exchanged congratulations on the successful launch of the first Algerian satellite “Alcomsat-1” from China,
hailing this success as the “crowning of a long and serious work” between Algeria and China in the field of space technologies, said a communiqué of the Foreign Ministry.
This achievement is the “fruit of a successful scientific partnership between the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and a number of Chinese bodies,” added the communiqué.
In his message to his Chinese counterpart, President Bouteflika welcomed the “quality of the Algerian-Chinese bilateral relations” that the two countries decided, in 2014, to upgrade to a “comprehensive strategic partnership.”
This achievement constitutes the “crowning of a long and serious work” between Algeria and China in the field of space technologies, said the president as quoted by the Foreign Ministry’s communiqué.
President Bouteflika also expressed deep esteem for the Republic of China for its willingness to share technology in a very developed field, namely ICTs.
For his part, the Chinese president congratulated President Bouteflika for the successful launch into orbit of “Alcomsat-1” satellite, and hailed the work of Algerian technicians to make this project successful.
The Chinese president welcomed “the deep friendship relations between Algeria and China.” Algeria is a “leading strategic partner,” said the Chinese president.
