ALGIERS – A UN delegation of experts pays a visit to Algeria, as part of a mission aiming at examining Algeria’s efforts to adapt the national legislation to the UN convention against corruption
and asset recovery, said Wednesday a communiqué of Justice Ministry.
The UN delegation, composed of two experts from Kenya and Ghana and two representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which visit lasts from 24 to 26 September, will address the sections of “anti-corruption and asset recovery,” the statement added.
A permanent team, coming under the Ministry of Justice, bringing together several ministerial departments and bodies concerned with the prevention and fight against corruption ensures the follow-up of the operation by Algerians, according to the same source.
The visit is part of “a measure which is applied to all the member countries of the UN Office based on self-assessment and peer evaluation.”
The measure aims at stressing the best practical experiences as well as the challenges facing the member countries during the application of the UN Office recommendations, said the statement.
