ALGIERS- Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad took part Thursday, by videoconference, in a high-level symposium on the New Partnership on Africa’s Development (NEPAD), in his capacity as representative
of President of the Republic Abdelamdjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a communiqué.

This meeting was chaired by “South Africa’s President, serving President of the African Union, and was marked by the participation of other heads of State and Government, head of the African Union Commission, executive secretaries of NEPAD and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa as well as representatives of the regional economic communities,” said the source.

In addition to the assessment of the progress made in the implementation of Africa’s Economic and Social Agenda, “this meeting was an opportunity for a high-level political debate on the continent’s priorities and the role expected from the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) to face the challenges of the 21st century,” added the source.

“Based on the African partnership and leadership, NEPAD enabled Africa to have its development agenda thanks to a mobilization of its own means and a better cooperation with its different partners,” said the source.

“A glowing tribute was paid to Algeria for its leadership and historic role in the establishment of NEPAD as a founding country, as well as for its unfailing commitment to Africa’s socio-economic development, defense of Africa’s interests and the speeding up of the continent’s economic integration,” concluded the source.
