ALGIERS- Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad received on Monday in Algiers vice-President of the Swiss Confederation, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis,
who is on a working visit to Algeria, said a Statement from the Prime Minister’s Offices.
The meeting, which took place at the Government Palace, “constituted an opportunity to share views on Algerian-Swiss relations and the prospects for their development in various fields,” said the same source.
“Emphasis has been placed on the fields of industry, technology, digital, agriculture, environment, health and pharmaceutical industry,” added the statement.

In this regard, the two parties agreed on “strengthening dialogue and raise contacts between business communities in the two countries, in order to reinvigorate economic cooperation and take advantage of the potential offered by the Algerian and Swiss markets.”

The two parties also “discussed the establishment of cooperation mechanisms concerning the National Liberation War archives located in Switzerland,” the statement added.
The Premier and the Swiss official had “a broad consultation on regional and international issues of common interest, in particular the fight against terrorism as well as the situations in Mali, the Sahel and Western Sahara.”

“The recent progress recorded in the Libyan political process has been welcomed,” said the same source.
“Regarding the conflict in Western Sahara, the urgent need for the appointment of a UN Personal Envoy has been stressed,” the statement also said.
At the end, “the two parties expressed their satisfaction with the convergence of their respective views and affirmed their commitment to pursue the tradition of bilateral consultation,” the statement concluded.
