ISTANBUL- Algeria affirmed Wednesday, in Istanbul (Turkey), through the intervention of the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly Said Bouhadja, that the decision of the American President to relocate US embassy to the holy
occupied city of Al Quds is a “flagrant violation of the international law and international legality and which would have serious impact on peace and security in the region and the world.”
This unprecedented and iniquitous decision is a flagrant violation of the international law, international legality and the decisions of the United Nations and the Security Council and will affect seriously peace and security in the region and the world,” said Bouhadja, who represented President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika in the extraordinary Summit of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Al Quds.
It is a “real decline in the peace process in the Middle East, a challenge for all the Muslim nation and a contravention of the Palestinian people’s history and their symbols,” he underlined.
“The wide condemnation and the formal rejection of the serious American decision, by several countries, regional and international organizations as well as by peace-loving personalities in the world, show unquestionably the commitment of the international community to the principles of the international law and its determination to support the efforts aimed at ending the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East on the basis of the two-State solution,” said Bouhadja.
“These international leanings show once again the diplomatic and political victories achieved by the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian people at the level of the United Nations and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in particular.”
The representative of President of the Republic said that “we categorically reject this illegal measure and its effects and call on the United States of America to go back on its decision and resume its role of sponsor of peace process.”
“We call all the countries not to recognize or follow this decision but to remain committed to the international legality and peace process as well as the foundations of the two-State solution,” he added.
Bouhadja urged the international community to “continue exerting pressure on the Israeli occupation to force it to comply with the decisions of the international legality,” calling it to “renew its support to the Palestinian people and their resistance against the occupation till they recover all their rights.”
The head of the Algerian delegation underlined that “the Palestinian people are deeply suffering because of the repressive and arbitrary practices of the Israeli occupation, its colonisation policy, the continuation of the iniquitous blockade imposed on Gaza strip and the systematic expulsion of the Muslim and Christian populations from the city of Al Quds as part of the judaization affecting the different institutions and life aspects of this city.”
“Algeria, faithful to its consistent position and unconditional support to the fair Palestinian cause, reiterates its support to the Palestinian brothers in these painful circumstances and reaffirms its support to the struggle of the Palestinian people for the establishment of their independent and fully sovereign State, within the 1967 borders, with Al Quds as capital,” he underlined.
