BEIJING-The China-Arab world strategic partnership and relations are “an example of successful South-South cooperation” and are moving towards “a genuine complementarity” in various fields,
said Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
Speaking in the 8th ministerial meeting on the China-Arab world cooperation forum, Messahel said that the China-Arab world strategic partnership has witnessed a significant progress in all fields under the implementation of the forum’s plan 2016-2018.
The FM hailed the China-Arab world relations, “which are constantly moving towards a genuine complementarity in the areas of technology, science and culture, as well as further investments in infrastructure projects and joint productive projects between Arab and Chinese economic operators.”
Calling this China-Arab world strategic partnership “qualitative,” the minister said this partnership is “a successful example” of South-South cooperation as it is not only limited to coordination in political and security issues of common interest and cooperation in trade and economy, but also includes cultural exchanges between Arab peoples and China.
In this connection, Messahel expressed Algeria’s willingness to broaden the prospects of China-Arab world cooperation through this forum and its executive plan 2018-2020.
As regards relations between Algeria and China, which celebrate their 60th anniversary, the Algerian top diplomat hailed the privileged relations between the two countries, which are framed by the Declaration establishing a comprehensive Algerian-Chinese strategic partnership, sealed in 2014, by President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
Messahel underlines Algeria’s stances vis-à-vis current international issues
As regards international issues, the Foreign Minister recalled that since independence, Algeria has always defended the United Nations’ (UN) principles, notably the preservation of peace and international security as well as the settlement of conflicts through dialogue, peaceful means, and the development of friendship relations between nations on the basis of peoples’ right to self-determination and non-interference in their internal affairs.
The idea of “Living Together in peace” anchored in the Algerian personality and promoted by the President of the Republic is in line with the concept of the “Community of Common Destiny for Humanity” developed by President Jinping.
As for the situation in various regions in the world, the minister recalled that Algeria “spares no effort” to combat terrorism, violent extremism and organized crime at the regional and international levels, and establish stability and peace, especially as the Arab region has suffered and still suffers from the consequences of instability and foreign interference.
In the same vein, Messahel welcomed the constant support of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the Palestinian cause, and reaffirmed Algeria’s firm support to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish its independent State with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as capital based on the borders of 1967.
As for the Libyan crisis, Messahel reiterated Algeria’s determination to pursue efforts for the settlement of this crisis under the supervision of the United Nations (UN) through a political solution based on inclusive dialogue and national reconciliation between Libyan without foreign interference.
The FM advocated a political solution, dialogue and reconciliation to end the crisis in Syria and Yemen, and preserve the stability and the sovereignty of these two brotherly countries.
