Boutarfa takes part in OPEC and Non-OPEC meeting in Istanbul

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy Noureddine Boutarfa took part in a meeting that has brought together OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers Wednesday in the Turkish capital Istanbul, on the sidelines of the 23rd World Energy Congress.
Following the meeting, Boutarfa “expressed satisfaction with the positive debates which allowed to strengthen mechanisms for consultation and cooperation between OPEC and non-OPEC members,” Energy Ministry said Thursday in a statement
Moreover, the “non-OPEC member countries were invited to join the meeting of the High Level Technical Committee set up by OPEC after the Algiers Agreement of September 28, 2016,” the statement said.
“The Technical Committee will meet on 28 and 29 October in Vienna (Austria). The non-OPEC countries will join the Committee on 29th October to coordinate their action and examine the best ways to balance and stabilize the (oil) markets.”
The setting up of the High Level Technical Committee was decided at the OPEC extraordinary meeting held on 28 September in Algiers.
OPEC decided in this meeting to reduce oil output at a level between 32.5 bpd and 33 million bpd.
Moreover, on the sidelines of the World Energy Congress, Boutarfa met with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak.
They discussed cooperation aspects between Algeria and Turkey in particular on energy.
The two ministers also agreed to hold Algerian-Turkish Joint Committee shortly.
