PARIS (France)- Minister of Energy Noureddine Boutarfa reaffirmed Monday, in Paris (France), at the 15th Global Forum on Sustainable Development that renewable energies in Algeria are a “national priority,”
recalling in this regard, the important national programme.
“Under the impetus of the president of the Republic, his Excellency President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, renewable energies raised to the level of national priority. Given the importance of Algeria’s solar potential, its large area, the national withheld energy transition is focused on the development of renewable energies, particularly by the achievement of photovoltaic solar power plants and wind farms,” said the minister in a speech given in front of the participants to the forum.
He highlighted the launch of the national renewable energies programme and the control of energy which was adopted by the government in 2011 and updated in 2015.
“We have set ambitious and promising goals in terms of renewable energies and we are determined to make the next twenty years the era of sustainable energy deployment for the country,” he explained, recalling that the national programme “foresees 47 to 51 TWh by 2030/2040 representing more than 27% of mixed energies, including more than 9 TWh, a capacity totalling 4,500 MWc should be set up by 2020/2022.”
