ALGIERS- Minister of Energy Noureddine Boutarfa broach Wednesday, in Algiers,
with the Spanish minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Alfonso Dastis Quecedo the business and investment opportunities between the two countries in the field of energy, particularly in renewable energy, said the ministry in a communiqué.
Boutarfa reaffirmed Algeria’s willingness to diversify its resources while developing its industry, inviting Spanish companies to invest in Algeria and to respond to the call for expression of interest to be launched by Algeria shortly to carry out the 4,000 MWp (megawatt-peak) in photovoltaic solar energy.
It is a project built in three sections and associated to an industrial aspect of local equipment manufacturing, said the statement.
Dubbing the bilateral energy relations “satisfactory and positive,” the two parties also welcomed the bonds of trust between the companies of the two countries “thanks to stable and strong partnerships,” said the source.
The two ministers called for a framework of economic consultations and exchange of experiences to gather the necessary conditions to increase exchanges between the two countries.
The stabilization of oil markets, economic indicators and conditions to relaunch global economy were also on the menu of this meeting, said the ministry.
Dastis started Wednesday a two-day working visit to Algeria to deepen political dialogue between the two countries on issues of common interest and to review bilateral relations in view of the holding, this year in Algiers, of the 7th Algerian-Spanish High Level meeting.
