DEAD SEA (Jordan)- Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah held discussions, Wednesday in Jordan’s Dead Sea, with the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
The discussions, held on the sidelines of the 28th Arab Summit, focused on the political and security situation in North Africa and the Sahel region.
The two sides also discussed the situation in the occupied Western Sahara, and the standstill in the negotiation process between Morocco and Polisario Front.
During the discussions, the UN chief hailed Algeria’s efforts to find a political solution to the Libyan crisis, which has had negative repercussions on the North African and Sahel regions and even on Europe.
As regards the situation in Mali, Guterres underlined the success of the international mediation, led by Algeria, which culminated in the signing of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali in 2015.
He also hailed Algeria’s role in the Agreement’s implementation process.
Bensalah is representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the 28th Arab Summit.
Bensalah, Ould Abdelaziz review bilateral relations, counterterrorism
DEAD SEAD (Jordan)- The Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah held discussions Wednesday, at the Dead Sea (Jordan), with the Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz.
The meetings, which took place on the sidelines of the works of the focused on bilateral relations in the political, economic, and cultural fields.
On the same occasion, the two officials reiterated their will to continue cooperation and dialogue on all the issues of common interest particularly in the fight against terrorism, and the situation in Mali.

Bensalah meets with Somalian president
DEAD SEAD (Jordan)- The Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah held talks Wednesday, at the Dead Sea (Jordan) ,with the Somalian president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.
Bensalah congratulated the Somalian president on behalf of the president of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, for his election to the Supreme Magistracy on 8 February.
On the same occasion, Abdullahi Mohamed presented an overview of the political, security, economic and humanitarian situation in his country, also broaching the challenges particularly terrorism facing the Soamalian people.
Furthermore, he thanked Algeria for its help of many kinds to Somalians.
The Speaker of the Council of the Nation participates in the 28th Arab Summit as a representative of the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
