ALGIERS-Minister of Finance Abderrahmane Benkhalfa partook Tuesday and Wednesday in the 7th meeting of the Arab Finance Ministers Council held in Manama (Bahrain),
the ministry stated in a communiqué.
This 7th meeting, during which Arab Finance Ministers stressed “the need” to coordinate their positions with international financial institutions, is part of the holding of annual assemblies of Arab financial institutions in the same dates in Bahrain, the same source stated.
On this occasion, Bekhalafa met with his Arab counterparts and Bahrain Kingdom’s Premier Khalifa Ben Selmane Al Khalifa.
Besides, the minister participated in the Boards of Governors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (Fades), the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the Arab Organization for Investment and agricultural development (Oaida) and the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (OAGICE).
The Council of Governors of these institutions discussed aspects relating to the management of some financial issues (approval of accounts and renewal and/or appointment of auditors), according to the communiqué.
On this occasion, Benkhalfa took part in the 6th meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Special Account for private sector’s SMEs financing aiming at helping SMEs in Arab countries and providing financing and technical assistance.
As part of the cooperation program with Arab institutions, members of the Algerian government met with officials from Arab financial institutions attending this event.
He held “extensive” talks with officials of the AMF and Fades in the region on expertise sharing.
These two institutions have been informed of measures launched by Algeria to boost growth.
They affirmed their willingness to provide an active contribution under “preferential” conditions to economic projects likely to foster growth.
Benkhalfa also seized the opportunity of this event to meet some of his Arab counterparts with whom he exchanged views on the global economic situation and its impact on the Arab region, as well as bilateral relations and means to further develop them, the ministry concluded.
