ALGIERS- The Algerian-Congolese High Joint Commission is an “intergovernmental instrument that should be preserved” in order to build strong partnership between the two countries, said Sunday in Algiers Minister of State,
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.
In his opening address at the 7th session of the Algerian-Congolese High Joint Commission, Lamamra said to be convinced that “adequate measures” would be taken to that end.
In this regard, he recalled that “at least 14 draft agreements in different sectors were examined and twelve others were identified during the meeting of experts.”
He added that the two Heads of State have committed to mobilizing all operators, in all sectors, with a view to building strong and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Gakosso has paid tribute to the two Presidents, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Denis Sassou Nguesso for their “leadership” in the African continent.
“This session will strengthen cooperation between our two countries, particularly through the effective implementation of the main resolutions made by experts from both countries during preparatory meetings in Brazzaville in February and currently in Algiers,” said Gakosso.
“The Republic of Congo has developed excellent relations with Algeria,” he added.
The Congolese Foreign minister underlined that “this session is important at both political and diplomatic levels, especially as it is being held ahead of the State visit of President Denis Sassou-Nguesso to Algeria (as from Monday).”
