KHENCHELA (Algeria)- Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni said Tuesday that “Algeria will export electric power to Libya via Tunisia.”
“Electricity exports is part of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s programme on the exportation of electricity surplus,” the minister told APS on the sidelines of a working visit to Khenchela.
Consultations “are under way with Tunisia, which will benefit from 400 megawatts, as well as Libya.”
Electric power will be exported to the two countries through the provinces of Batna and Khenchela.
Guitouni said the programme of the head of State also includes production of 22,000 megawatts of electricity from solar power by 2030.
The project has already been launched and 400 megawatts are being produced, he added.
