ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum said Thursday that Algeria adequately protects itself against the destabilization methods used at its borders, thanks to the unity of its people,
the strength of the People’s National Army and the conviction of its diplomacy.
In an interview with Radio Algeria Internationale, Boukadoum said that “Algeria is well protected” against the various destabilization threats and methods used at its borders, thanks to “the unity of its people, the strength of the People’s National Army, the conviction of its diplomacy and its purposeful, well-thought out, clear and transparent actions.”
“We don’t play behind the scenes, we do what we say, and we don’t have daggers hidden behind our backs, these are not the ways of Algeria,” the minister said.
“When we speak at the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU) and before all our partners, we say very clearly, very frankly, that we do not have a hidden agenda,” Boukadoum stressed.
However, the minister acknowledges that “Algeria is targeted by other means of destabilization,” which is called, he says, “the 4th, 5th or 6th generation war, called wars of the future.”
But “it doesn’t just affect Algeria and we adapt to that,” he stressed.
On the establishment of military bases in the Sahel, the chief of Algerian diplomacy said Algeria “does not wish, according to its convictions, to see foreign bases in neighboring countries regardless of the motives.”
“It is up to each government, in all sovereignty, to decide what it wants to defend itself.”
“The proliferation of foreign military bases, historically, has never brought good” to the region, he noted.
