ALGIERS- President Nicolas Maduro Moros of Venezuela said Monday in Algiers that he intended, through his visit to Algeria, to boost cooperation between Algeria and Venezuela for the development of peace and economic prosperity.
“My trip has been crowned by the visit to Algeria to strengthen cooperation between the two countries for the development of peace and economic prosperity,” Maduro said in an answer to a question by Venezuelan journalists, following an audience he granted to the speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah.
The Venezuelan president said he tackled the issues discussed in the negotiations that had led to the agreement concluded by the countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the non-OPEC countries for the stabilization of oil prices.
OPEC and 11 Non-OPEC producers committed, in late 2016, to cut output until March 2018 to absorb the surplus in oil offer, which has a direct impact on the prices.
Maduro said he raised bilateral relations, mainly in the energy field, adding that joint projects are under discussion, with a possibility to open an air link between the two countries.
