ALGIERS- Economic relations between Algeria and Turkey have been given a new impetus over the last few years through multisectoral and industrial partnerships, with a boosting of bilateral trade.
During the official visit President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey will pay to Algeria on February 26-28, the two countries will identify ways and methods to further develop bilateral economic cooperation to raise it to the level of excellence reached by their political relations and friendship.
During an audience granted last Thursday to Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel in Ankara, Turkey, the Turkish president expressed satisfaction with the quality of relations between the two countries.
Erdogan said bilateral relations show a “common will, at the highest level, to further strengthen them in the benefit of the two countries.”
During the visit, a joint bilateral commission meeting is to take concrete actions as part of the bilateral partnership and cooperation and give fresh impetus to relations between the two countries, especially in tourist industry, agriculture and renewable energies.
Algerian-Turkish economic cooperation is more and more diversified as a result of various partnership agreements in the industrial sector (textile, iron and steel industry…), energy, sea transport and building industry.
A total of 796 Turkish companies are working in Algeria today, employing more than 28,000 people.
According to the figures of the National Agency of Investment Development (ANDI) for 2017, Turkey was leading joint investments in Algeria with over 20 investment projects estimated at more than USD200 billion, expected to create about 6,000 jobs.
