ALGIERS-Algeria will host the 37th Administrative Council of the Pan-African Postal Union (PAPU), in accordance with memorandum of understanding (MoU) sealed on 18 January 2018 between Minister of Post, Telecommunications,
Technologies and Digital Technology Houda Imane Feraoun and PAPU Secretary General Younouss Djibrine, said the ministry in a statement.
The first PAPU Administrative Council’s meeting in Algeria is due to adopt the report of its 36th session held on 8-10 May in the Kenyan capital (Nairobi).
The Administrative Council will adopt the reports and recommendations of the administrative and technical committees, and will choose the theme of the PAPU Day Celebration for 2019.
On the sidelines of this event, the Postal Regulators Forum will take place on 11 April 2018 and will focus on the regulation of financial postal services.
The forum will also be an opportunity to share experiences and practices on the legal and financial status of Regulation Authorities, and thus harmonize postal policies and regulations in Africa.
Held annually, the Administrative Council manages PAPU’s affairs between the Conferences of Plenipotentiaries.
PAPU is an African Union (AU) specialized institution tasked with coordinating postal services development activities in Africa.
