ALGIERS- President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey said that Algeria plays an essential role in the restoration of peace and stability, describing it as a model of stability in a “region permanently shaken by unrest.”
In an interview to Echourouk newspaper published Monday, Erdogan said Algeria “is an emerging country and remains a model of stability in a “region permanently shaken by unrest,” adding that his country “attaches a great importance to the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields.”
The Turkish president, who will start an official visit to Algeria on Monday, stressed the close relationship between Algeria and Turkey, based on a “shared history and cultural heritage,” expressing a wish to see “bilateral relations boosted” as a result of the visit.
President Erdogan said the visit will be an opportunity to “deepen cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, tourist, energy and security fields.
Economic relations between the two countries in trade, investment, real estate, and tourism will be further developed in the future,” he said.
To take advantage of the potentials of the two countries in trade and investment, the two sides will conclude agreements in this respect, he added.
Stressing the importance of free movement between the two countries and the need for mutually beneficial facilitations, Erdogan said his country “is greatly interested in the development of bilateral relations in cultural and technical areas.”
He expressed the need to “enhance the legal framework for cooperation between the two sides, in the light of the common history dating back to centuries ago.”
