ALGIERS-Algeria and Niger are “jointly” committed to addressing security challenges in the Sahel, particularly in Libya, said Tuesday in Algiers Niger’s Prime Minister Brigi Rafini.
“We discussed bilateral issues of common interest and highlighted the need for both countries to combine efforts to address security challenges in the Sahel region, particularly in Libya,” said Rafini after a meeting with Head of the State Abdelkader Bensalah.
“Algeria and Niger are jointly committed to addressing these challenges of mutual interest,” he added.
Moreover, Rafini said that he had a message from Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou, to Head of the State Abdelkader Bensalah, in which he conveyed “friendship greetings of Nigerien people to the brotherly Algerian people.”
On Monday, Rafini began a two-day working visit to Algiers as part of dialogue and consultation between the two countries.
