Algeria, Namibia’s positions regarding Sahrawi people’s self-determination are “constant”

ALGIERS- Algeria and Namibia’s positions regarding the self-determination of the Sahrawi people are “constant” said Monday, in Algiers, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
“We have discussed issues inherent to peace and stability in the African continent and particularly, the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara about which the positions of both countries are constant,” said the Namibian minister at the end of her meeting with the minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
Furthermore, the discussions focused on the agenda of the 1st session of the joint cooperation commission, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday as well as “identifying the fields of this cooperation, more particularly education, training, energy and agriculture.”
In this regard, Nandi-Ndaitwah called for “the encouragement of investments in the two countries and trade in local products and thus, as of the promotion of economic diplomacy in the continent.”
They also “exchanged information on what binds the two nations namely a common history in the field of the fight for liberation.”
For his part, Messahel, while hailing the “common history,” reported on the conclusion of six bilateral agreements at the end of the first session of the joint commission between the two countries, which is an opportunity “to identify the areas for the expansion of bilateral cooperation.”
In this regard, Messahel underlined Algeria’s “new vision” concerning the economic diplomacy, assuring that “the Algerian market is open to Namibian products and those from other countries.”
