(English) Algeria elected to Executive Board of UNICEF, UN CND

NEW YORK-Algeria on Tuesday has been elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) by the members of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for a three-year term,
and to the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term as from 1st January 2022.
“Algeria has been elected, today, by acclamation of all ECOSOC Members to the Executive Board of the UNICEF, for a 3-year term, beginning on 1 January 2022 and to the UN Commission On Narcotic Drugs (CND), for a 4-year term beginning on 1 January 2022,” twitted the Algerian delegation to the UN.
The Executive Board is UNICEF’s governing body and consists of 36 members representing the five regional groups of UN member states (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, Eastern and Western Europe, and Other States). It monitors UNICEF’s activities and approves the organization’s policies, country programs and budgets.
The 53-member Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) is a governing body of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) that monitors the implementation of the international drug control treaties.
