ALGIERS- Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi and the head of the Chinese Agency for International Cooperation and Development, Wang Xiaotao, agreed Monday, in Algiers,
to boost cooperation between Algeria and China in the cultural field.
Speaking in an audience granted to him by the minister of Culture in Algiers, Wang Xiaotao said the visit comes to mark the “60th anniversary of the establishment of the Algerian-Chinese relations.”
It is aimed at “strengthening cooperation in the cultural field,” he said, adding that the agency he chairs had launched several projects in Algeria.
Mihoubi, for his part, said the visit has been an opportunity to “assess cultural relations between the two countries,” which have reached a “high level.”
The minister added that he discussed with the Chinese official “the possibility to carry out other cultural projects in Algeria,” such as Boualem Bessaih Opera of Algiers.
The head of the Chinese Agency for International Cooperation and Development started Tuesday a working visit to Algeria, the first of its kind in Africa as president of the agency, created in April 2018 to promote China’s economic and technical cooperation with foreign countries.
