NEW YORK – Algeria on Thursday has been brilliantly elected to the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC) for a new five-year term.
Algeria, which was vying for one of the eight ILC seats reserved for Africa, received 160 votes during the election of the 34 members of the Geneva-based body, which works on developing and codifying international law.
It is a sign of the international community’s great confidence in Algeria, particularly in view of its contribution to the development of international law.
Algeria’s candidate, Pr Ahmed Laraba, has been elected to the ILC for a new five-year term.
