10th Fibda: Comics and cosplay contest winners rewarded

ALGIERS- Several prizes were awarded to the winners of the national contest for comics and cosplay, as part 10th International Comics Festival of Algiers (FIBDA), which wrapped up Saturday afternoon in Algiers.
The European Union’s Excellence Award returned to Mohamed Réda Kahloula for his book “How to tell the war”, while the “Young talent” and “Hope” prizes were respectively awarded to Hamza Sam from Tizi Ouzou and Massine Khelloufi from Algiers.
Three other encouragement prizes were granted, by the jury chaired by plastic artist Djaoudet Guessouma, including young Karima Chaâbane, author of “Adventure Fibda”, who won “TV5 Monde/French Institute of Algiers” prize; a new distinction created in 2017 by Fibda.
She will have the possibility to participate in the Comics Festival in Lyon in June 2018.
The winners received honorary titles in addition to gifts and financial rewards, ranging from 25,000 to 150,000 Algerian dinars.
In addition, the jury of the contest “Cosplay Algérie 2017,” chaired by French cartoonist Philippe Brocard, has rewarded the best cosplayers of this edition.
This award recognizes young people who have created fictional costume representing a character from comics, video games, cinema or inspired by Algerian folk tales.
The grand prize for the best cosplay was thus awarded to Onseli Bilal who presented the character “Assassin’s Creed”, while those of the
“Best Costume” and “Best Humor Cosplay” returned to Sabri Benbasset and Abdelhadi Mokhtar Boudjaatat for their characters “Simon” and “Obelix” respectively.
Seventeen countries, including honorary guest France, took part in the 10th Fibda which took place at the Riadh Esplanade el Feth and the Moufdi-Zakaria Palace of Culture.
