Attaf lands in New York ahead of elections of Security Council non-permanent members
Tasked by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf arrived at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in New York for a working visit ahead of the elections to renew the non-permanent members of the Security Council.
Algeria will participate in the UN General Assembly elections scheduled for June 6, as a candidate for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for 2024-2025.
Algeria’s candidacy is approved by the African Union (AU), the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as the support of several brotherly and friendly countries.
Attaf will hold bilateral talks with several representatives of UN member countries, as well as with the Secretary-General and senior officials of this international organization, with a view to discuss the goals and priorities that our country wishes to achieve during its term of office on the Security Council, and mobilizing further support in the run-up to the June 6 elections, in addition to preparing for the events that will follow this important rendezvous.
