ORAN- Malian Minister of Mines and Oil Tiémoko Sangaré underlined Tuesday, in Oran, that national hydrocarbon company Sonatrach was invited to resume oil and gas exploration works in his country.
In a statement to APS on the sidelines of the 11th Scientific and Technical Conference of Sonatrach organized under the slogan “Innovation and partnership in energy transition context,” the Malian minister said “in a meeting Monday with Algerian Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni and Chief Executive Officer of Sonatrach Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, we invited Sonatrach to resume drilling oil and gas works in pavilion n° 20 in Mali.”
Sonatrach is bound by an agreement with the Malian State, he underlined, affirming that “the works were suspended for reasons related to the financial crisis and we are overcoming it.”
Mali’s minister of Mines and Oil said that he attended this economic event with a large delegation in order to relaunch the bilateral cooperation in the sector of hydrocarbons.
He called on Sonatrach to invest in Mali to make the first oil drilling and prepare the ground for oil production in his country.
