ALGIERS-Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines Zakaria Hamad said Sunday in Algiers that the renewal of supply contracts of Tunisia with Algerian natural gas and the enlargement of Tunisian storage capacity of liquefied gas will be the focus of talks between Algerian and Tunisian leaders to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
In a statement to the press after his meeting with Minister of Energy Salah Khebri, Hamad said he was satisfied with “the level of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy”, reiterating Tunisian government’s willingness to work for the promotion of cooperation in this sector.
The Tunisian Minister expressed particular interest in the program adopted by the Algerian government to rationalize the use of energy and promote renewable energy.
Khebri said his meeting with Tunisian Minister was an opportunity to “assess bilateral cooperation” in the bilateral sectoral committee which met in Tunis last summer, underlining his commitment to take the measures needed to promote cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
Hamad will co-chair Monday with Minister of Industry and Mines, Bouchouareb Abdessalem the works of the 9th session of the Algerian-Tunisian bilateral committee to monitor and assess industrial cooperation between the two countries.
