ALGIERS- The speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Said Bouhadja, on Monday stressed the need to “develop methods to fight extremism in the light of the new realities”
to better preserve religious unity, the Lower House said in a statement.
Bouhadja, who received a delegation of the Muslim World League” (MWL), led by its secretary general Mohamed Bin Abdelkarim Al-Aissi, in the presence of the head of the High Islamic Council (HIC), Bouabdallah Ghlamallah, emphasized “the need to develop methods to fight extremism in the light of the new realities, in order to preserve religious unity.”
“Algeria’s foreign policy is based on peace, stability, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and the settlement of conflicts by peaceful and political means, which has resulted in relations of trust and cooperation with countries and peoples,” the Algerian official said.
The bilateral relations, described as “brotherly,” were at the centre of discussions between the two sides, who called for “the development of those relations in various areas.”
The two sides underlined “the positive exchange of views on various issues, including how to highlight the true values of Islam worldwide and the fight against extremism, a real threat to the stability of the Muslim nation.”
