ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel affirmed Monday that the Algerian diplomacy will continue its peace and dialogue implementation process for the settlement of conflicts through its approach enjoying
an international recognition and introduced into the different United Nations’ initiatives.
Guest of the National Radio (Channel 1), on the occasion of the celebration of the Algerian Diplomacy Day, Messahel reviewed “the different stops of the Algerian diplomacy marked by an action governing peace and negotiations between the concerned parties,” in order to “preserve the territorial integrity of countries in conflicts and respect their willingness.”
He broached the main foundations of the Algerian approach in resolving disagreements and conflicts, citing first of all the adoption of dialogue by the protagonists and the banishment of solutions coming from abroad.
These principles “have become a reality” demonstrated through UN’s different efforts made in this regard.
In this regard, the minister broached the main achievements of the Algerian diplomacy “strengthened under the leadership of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika who set three main objectives : namely repositioning Algeria at the international level, ending discord and reorganizing the internal affairs.”
In this regard, he underlined the achievements that Algeria is still making to resolve conflicts through peaceful settlement processes and the initiatives of which it was one of the founders, like the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) which allowed the African countries to speak with one voice for the preservation of the continent’s interests and assume a new role in the balance of power in terms of international relations.
The Charter for peace and national reconciliation, celebrating its 15th anniversary and chosen this year as slogan for the celebration of the Algerian Diplomacy Day, constitutes one of Algeria’s main achievements in the past few years, making from its experience in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism a platform for the action of UN commissions, as part of the efforts aimed at establishing peace.
