Algeria, Indonesia examine agricultural cooperation

ALGIERS – Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing Abdesselam Chelghoum on Wednesday has examined with the Chairman of Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Zulkifli, Hasan means to boost cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The two sides also discussed investment opportunities in the two countries, particularly in the agricultural field and food-processing industry.
During the discussions, attended by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Algeria Safira Machrusah, Chelghoum highlighted the investment areas in Algeria, especially tree cultivation, market gardening, cereal growing and aquaculture.
For his part, Zulkifli, who was accompanied by a large delegation, expressed Indonesian operators’ interest in investing in Algeria and their wish to launch projects in the field of agriculture.
He also announced the visit of a group of Indonesian businessmen and investors to Algeria to examine investment opportunities and establish partnerships with their Algerian counterparts.
Chelghoum welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness of his department to provide all necessary support and facilities for partnerships between Algerian and foreign investors in fields relating the sector.
Zulkifli said that his visit to the brotherly and friendly country Algeria aimed at strengthening parliamentary relations and cooperation between the two governments in various areas, especially agriculture.
Zulkifli Hasan, accompanied by a delegation made up of heads of the parliamentary groups of Indonesia’s Consultative Assembly, arrived Tuesday in Algiers for a three-day visit.
