ALGIERS – Algeria and India inked on Wednesday in Bangalore a governmental cooperation agreement in the fields of sciences, technologies and space applications,
said the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) in a communiqué.
This agreement has been signed by ASAL General Manager Azzedine Oussedik, and Chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Kailasavadivoo Sivan, in presence of the president of ASAL Board of Directors and executives of the Indian Space Agency.
In September 2006, the two parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Training Cooperation, which allowed 20 Algerian engineers to benefit from master’s courses in space applications and advanced training in the field of training in space telecommunications and geo-information.
This cooperation also enabled the successful launch of Algerian satellites Alsat-2A on July 10, 2010, and Alsat-1B, Alsat-2B and Alsat-1N on September 26, 2016, and the participation of Algerian engineers in the satellite preparation and launch phases.
“This agreement, concluded after long discussions and aims at extending cooperation to more complex areas, in line with the experience of our engineers,” said ASAL.
The Algerian delegation paid a visit to the space technological structures in Bangalore.
