Algeria calls for global agreement to eradicate terrorism

TASHKENT (Uzbekistan) -Algeria, through the secretary general of the Foreign Affairs ministry, Hassane Rabehi, called Wednesday in Tachkent, Uzbekistan, for the adoption of a “global” agreement in order to eradicate terrorism.
In an address at the 43th session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), whose works started Tuesday in the Uzbek capital, Rabehi insisted on the “importance of adopting effective counterterrorism mechanisms, namely a global agreement and the implementation of the existing instruments, especially the OIC agreement on terrorism and the UN international counterterrorism strategy.”
Mentioning the danger of terrorism, the Algerian official urged the international community to “join efforts to definitively eradicate this scourge.”
The speaker warned against the escalation of Islamphobia, inviting, the OIC to “carry on efforts, in coordination with the international community, to define and made available the political, legal, and means to put an end to the scourge.”
