Gas : Algeria to host 7th GECF Heads of State and Government Summit in 2023

ALGIERS- Algeria will host the 7th summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in 2023, the Forum said on its website on Saturday.
“The Forum energy ministers discussed at the 22nd GECF Ministerial Meeting the preparations for the 6th GECF Heads of State and Government Summit and expressed their satisfaction with the progress made by Qatar in as host of this event, on November 18, 2021. Algeria will host the 7th Forum summit in Algiers in 2023, ” the same source said.
In addition, the 23rd Ministerial Meeting of GECF will be held in Doha, Qatar, on November 16, 2021.

Last Thursday’s meeting reaffirmed its “determination to accelerate the pace of cooperation to increase the GECF effectiveness,” added the Forum.
He also recognized “the resilience of the member countries in their effort to ensure the unrestricted functioning of free and flexible gas markets, as well as uninterrupted supply to customers, despite many challenges and declining revenues.”

The meeting assessed the current dynamics of the natural gas industry and recognized that the fundamentals that will drive the projected growth of natural gas to the top of the global energy mix remain unchanged, the same source added

The natural gas is the world’s fastest growing fossil fuel, GECF says, and will become the primary source of the global energy mix by mid-century, increasing its share from 23% today to 28%.
This abundant and flexible source of energy “will continue to meet the global needs in energy, as well as the demands of the three segments of sustainable development, namely economic development, social progress and environmental protection”.

In his opening remarks, Attar gave an overview of the evolution of the gas industry and highlighted the strategic requirements that will boost it as well as the key role of the GECF as a unique platform for multilateral dialogue between gas exporting and consuming countries and industry.
