Messahel underlines Algeria’s key role in 26th AU Summit

ADDIS ABABA- Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League Abdelkader Messahel has underlined Algeria’s key role in the works of the 26thAfrican Union Summit.
In a statement to the press at the end of the Summit, at which Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal was representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Messahel said that Algeria “has played a key role” in the meeting.
Messahel added that during the Summit, “Algeria, which was re-elected at the AU Peace and Security Council, presented a document on its efforts in the field.”
In this regard, the minister said that Algeria also presented, last September, a document at the United Nations on the fight against extremisms and reiterating Algeria’s commitment to working to that end.”
Messahel also recalled the decisions that crowned the meetings of AFRIPOL (African Mechanism for Police Cooperation), held recently in Algiers, were all adopted, which will allow it to begin its work.
