Ouyahia bestows Medal of National Order of Merit “Athir” on Chinese novelist Mo Yan

ALGIERS- Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia bestowed Monday, in Algiers, the Medal of National Order of Merit “Athir” on Chinese novelist Mo Yan,
given by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in tribute to his person and Chinese culture.
Decided by the Head of State on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Algerian-Chinese diplomatic relations, this distinction was presented to the holder of the Nobel Prize for Literature 2012 as part of the 23rd International Book Fair (SILA).
Expressing his “immense” joy for this award, as it occurs, he said, within the framework of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Algerian-Chinese relations, Mo Yan added that “it is an encouragement and exhortation for the works he wrote over decades.”
On this occasion, Ouyahia said that “President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika who laid, in the company of his Chinese counterparts, strong cooperation bases between the two countries, reinforces today these foundations with a new cultural and popular milestone by awarding Mo Yan.”
