5th Algeria-Portugal high-level meeting: 13 cooperation agreements inked

LISBON-Algeria and Portugal signed Wednesday in Lisbon, at the end of their fifth high-level meeting, 13 cooperation agreements to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly at the economic level.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Premier Ahmed Ouyahia and his Portuguese counterpart, Antonio Costa.
Algeria and Portugal signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of civil protection, an agreement on cooperation in the field of health, and another one in the field of air transport.
The two countries also sealed a memorandum of understanding in the field of vocational training and education and another one in the field of social protection and promotion.
A memorandum for the introduction of Portuguese as an optional foreign language in the Algerian education system was also inked on this occasion, as well as a cultural exchange programme for the period 2018-2020 and an executive programme in the field of youth and sports for the same period.
Algeria and Portugal also signed a memorandum of understanding between the National Public Works Technical Control Body and the Portuguese Civil Engineering Laboratory, a memorandum of understanding between the Portuguese Welding and Quality Institute and the National Public Works Technical Control Body, as well as a memorandum of cooperation between the Higher Maritime School (ENSM) and the Portuguese Higher Nautical School Infante D. Henrique.
The two countries also sealed an action plan in the field of tourism training for the period 2018-2020 and a cooperation protocol between the University of Algiers II and the Camoes Institute for Languages and Cooperation.
