CAIRO- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel reiterated Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt, Algeria’s call for a reform of the Arab League to adapt it to the latest developments and give priority to the supreme interests of the Arab nation.
In an address at the 150th ordinary session of the Arab League Foreign Ministers Council, Messahel reiterated Algeria’s call for a reform of the Arab League, through a review of the bases, structures and working methods to better adapt to the latest developments in the region and give priority to the supreme interests of the Arab nation in the face of the dangers threatening it.”
Ouyahia said the “unprecedented” situation prevailing in some of the region’s countries and the ongoing regional and international conflicts have had an impact on the Arab world.
Those challenges, the prime minister said, “have been behind the violent change in Arab countries, providing breeding grounds for terrorism which seek to undermine human and civilizational values developed during the struggles against colonial powers.”
The situation prevailing in the Arab world, Messahel stressed, requires that we find a new approach to address the weak points of the common Arab action, hence the need for joining efforts and bringing views closer in the best interest of the Arab nation.”
