ALGIERS – German Chancellor Angela Merkel, will pay on Monday an official visit to Algeria at the invitation of president of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
During this visit, her second to Algeria after the 2008’s, the German chancellor will be received by President Bouteflika and will have talks with Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.

This visit will be an opportunity to make an assessment of the Algerian-German economic relations and reinforce the avenues of partnership for an economically dense bilateral relation.
Several industrial sectors interest the German companies, particularly the mechanical industry, automotive subcontracting, renewable energy, chemicals and the pharmaceutical industry.
In the mechanical sector, Algeria and Germany are already linked by partnerships, such as the manufacturing in Algeria of Mercedes-Benz vehicles by the German group Daimler (parent company of Mercedes-Benz), the Société Nationale of industrial vehicles (SNVI), the National Defence Ministry (MDN) and the Emirati group Aabar.
Three Algerian-German-Emirati joint companies were created in 2012 to develop the mechanical industry in Algeria: the Algerian company for the production of Mercedes-Benz heavy goods vehicles (SAPPL.MB) in Rouïba, the Algerian company for the manufacture of Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles (Safaa) in Tiaret and Algerian engine manufacturing company of Mercedes-Benz brand, Deutz and MTU in Constantine.
In total, more than 200 German companies from different sectors are currently operating in Algeria. In 2017, Germany was Algeria’s 4th largest supplier with USD$3.2 billion.
