ALGIERS- Algeria and Brazil have agreed to “finalize some agreements” in order to allow companies from both countries to work in good business climate, said Monday in Algiers Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
‘We have agreed to finalize some agreements in order to provide legal basis for cooperation and allow companies from both countries to work in good business climate with all necessary guarantees,” said Messahel during the working meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira Filho, who is on a working visit to Algeria.
Messahel underlined that trading between Algeria and Brazil amounted to US$3.5 billion, which is below the capacities of the two countries
He said that Algeria and Brazil have agreed to hold a meeting, as soon as possible, between the chambers of commerce of the two countries and boost the business forum, stressing the need to draw on Brazil’s experience in the sectors of industry, agriculture and public works.
“The Algerian market is very buoyant, because security and peace are guaranteed for investments,” said Messahel.
Algeria has built very strong relations with Brazil, especially after the visit of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika to Brazil in 2005, he said, adding that it was a “major step” in the strengthening of cooperation.
“Our two countries have worked together in international fora. They are both against any foreign interference in internal affairs of other countries”, stressed the Foreign minister.
“We are both in favour of the resolution of conflicts through dialogue and consultation,” he said.
Messahel added that he discussed with his Brazilian counterpart the Algerian experience, especially regarding the civil concord and national reconciliation.
“Everyone agrees, today, that if we are living in a stable country it is mainly thanks to the policy of the President of the Republic,” he stressed.
