Algeria-Spain to set up joint technical committee to strengthen bilateral relations

MADRID- Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Noureddine Bedoui said Monday, in Madrid, following a meeting with his Spanish counterpart Juan Ignacio Zoido that an Algerian-Spanish
joint technical committee will be set up to implement all the proposals aimed at improving and strengthening the bilateral relations in various fields.

Underlining that his visit to Spain has come to implement the recommendations of the 7th Algerian-Spanish high level bilateral meeting which took place early in April 2018 in Algiers, the minister said that this visit confirms “the excellent relations between the two countries in various fields related notably to security and fight against organized crime, civil protection and in various other fields such as road security.”

Bedoui pointed out that this joint committee will be set up in the next few days and the two countries’ experts will ensure “implementing the proposals that will strengthen exchanges and relations in the fields of security, fight against organized crime and trafficking of all sorts.”

“This committee will focus on giving a new impetus to the relations between the two countries’ local authorities in various fields, both administrative and economic and also on enhancing information exchanges in the fields of development and investment,” said Bedoui.

For his part, Spanish minister dubbed “very good” the bilateral relations particularly in the areas falling within the competence of the two ministries.

“We have excellent relations but it doesn’t prevent us from continuing to work together to consolidate our relations to further improve them in the fight against organized crime and illicit trafficking, such as drug and human trafficking.

Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Noureddine Bedoui paid Monday a working visit to Madrid alongside Directro General of National Police Major General Abdelghnai Hamel and Dircetor General of Civil Protection Mustapha Lahbiri.
