ALGIERS- Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia received Thursday, in Algiers, French Minister of State, Minister of Interior Gerard Collomb, who is on a working visit to Algeria, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.
The audience was attended by Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Noureddine Bedoui, the statement said.
Collomb arrived Wednesday in Algiers to co-chair, with Bedoui, a meeting bringing together Algerian walis (province governors) and their French counterparts (prefects).
The meeting opened Thursday morning at the Abdellatif-Rahal International Conference Centre.
The event is part of the bilateral exchanges and decentralized cooperation between the Interior departments of Algeria and France.
It is an opportunity to enrich and boost exchanges in areas of common interest between the two departments, especially in terms of attractivity, economic development, the management of major urban centers as well as the management of crisis situations and major risks.
In their respective addresses at the opening of the meeting, held under the theme “Decentralized Cooperation,” the two ministers stressed the importance of exchanging initiatives between the two countries, discussing ways to further step up cooperation.
