International conference on promoting women’s involvement in politics opens in Algiers

ALGIERS- The international conference on “promoting women’s involvement in politics, essential step in the political reform and sustainable development”
kicked off Saturday at the International Conference Centre of Algiers.
The event comes in implementation of the cooperation programme imitated by the ministry of Interior, in collaboration with UN agencies, namely the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Women.
Held under the high patronage of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the two-day conference was opened by the minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Noureddine Bedoui, and the minister of Justice, Tayeb Louh.
The event, attended by several national and foreign experts representing institutions working for the promotion of women’s involvement in politics, is expected to stress Algeria’s efforts for the promotion of women’s political rights and discuss how to benefit from successful international experiences in the field.
