ALGIERS- French Minister of State, Minister of Interior Gerard Collomb welcomed Thursday, in Algiers, Algeria’s commitment and efforts to restore peace in Mali and Libya,
calling for boosting coordination between Algeria and France to thwart the terrorist and criminal networks in the region.
Collomb stressed “Algeria’s commitment to such issues, mainly its key role in restoring peace in Mali and its support to the process sponsored by the United Nations for Libya’s stability.”
The French minister co-chaired the Algerian walis-French prefects meeting with the minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Noureddine Bedoui.
Algeria’s efforts are “contributing to curbing terrorism in the region and preventing that lawless areas be established in the region to the detriment of States, populations and peace,” Collomb said.
Such areas, he added, help in the spread of arms dealing, counterfeiting, illegal migration and crime.
Algeria and France should enhance coordination to foil the schemes of smuggling networks.
