Algeria, Russia ink five cooperation agreements

ALGIERS- Algeria and Russia have signed, Tuesday in Algiers, 5 partnership and cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding in the sectors of justice, health, vocational training, hydrocarbons and civil nuclear energy.
The first agreement, inked by Minister of Justice and his Russian counterpart Alexander Konovalov, provides for judicial cooperation between the two countries, particularly in criminal matters.
The second agreement, signed by Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Mokhtar Hasbellaoui and Russian Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova, includes an executive programme of cooperation in the field of health.
Another agreement on an executive programme of cooperation in the field of vocational training was inked by Minister of Vocational Training and Education Mohamed Mebarki and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lyudmila Ogorodova.
A memorandum on cooperation between the national hydrocarbon company SONATRACH and the Russian oil firm Transneft was signed by Sonatrach’s CEO Abdelmoumen Ould and Transneft’s vice president Mikhail Margelov.
A memorandum of understanding on civil nuclear energy, between Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) and the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, was signed by Comena’s head Nasreddine Djeghri and Rosatom’s Deputy Director General Nikolai Spassky.
The MoU provides for the exchange of experience in the field between the two countries.
Another MoU in the field of pharmaceutical industry was signed between the Algerian private company Biomap and the Russian private firm Biocad.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, as well as several ministers from the two countries.

ALGIERS-Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev on Monday started a two-day official visit to Algeria at the invitation of Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.
Ouyahia and members of the government welcomed Medvedev upon his arrival in Houari Boumediene International Airport.
The visit, which comes after the 8th Russian-Algerian Joint Intergovernmental Committee for commercial, economic, scientific and technical cooperation held on 8 September in Algiers, aims to strenghten strategic dialogue and multifaceted cooperation based on the Partnership Declaration inked in 2001, under the supervision of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Poutine.
